Car-free Day with the City of Cleveland Heights In-Person

Learn more about Cleveland Heights Car-free Day and other sustainability initiatives in this drop-in information session led by the City of Cleveland Heights Sustainability and Resiliency Coordinator Andy Boateng.

This program is a part of the City's week-long series of events promoting alternative modes of transportation.

As we return to more standard daily schedules in the fall with the resumption of school, it is a good time of year to recognize how we move about in our daily lives. Internationally, there are two days in September that highlight this. Park(ing) Day is a global event where people collaborate to temporarily transform parking spaces into “Park(ing)” spaces: tiny parks and places for art, play, and activism. This year, Park(ing) Day is Friday, September 15, 2023. World Car Free Day is an international event celebrated every September by over 2,000 cities in 40 countries around the World in which people are encouraged to travel car-free or car-lite, by using transit, bicycling, walking, carpooling, or telecommuting. This year World Car Free Day 2023 is Friday, September 22, 2023. The City of Cleveland Heights has a strong commitment to resiliency and the promotion of alternative modes of transportation. This year, the City is celebrating this with a week’s long series of events starting with Park(ing) Day and culminating on World Car Free Day.
