The Stained Glass Works of Douglass Phillips in Cleveland's Black Churches In-Person

Throughout churches of Northeast Ohio and around the world, the stained glass artistry of Phillips Stained Glass Studio stands out for its unique use of color, shape, and movement to create pieces that reach beyond religious understanding. Douglas Phillips, founder of the studio, is believed to be the only African American artist to run his own stained glass studio between the years of 1952 and 1995. This presentation will highlight Phillips’ career, development as an artist, a selection of his work and its importance as a part of Cleveland’s historic black churches. Registration begins 2 weeks before the event.
