The debate over a proposed domed football stadium near the airport is nothing new for Cleveland. Over the years, the city has repeatedly considered—and rejected—plans for domed stadiums and western suburban sites. This presentation revisits several failed proposals, including one particularly bold idea: a football stadium built on an artificial island in one of Pittsburgh’s rivers.
