Dr. Emma Clute is an art historian specializing in nineteenth-century French art. She received her PhD from The Ohio State University. Her research interests include Romanticism, the sublime, and immersivity.

The homes in artist Vilhelm Hammershoi's paintings are anything but homely. Explore the beautiful, haunting, and mysterious images of this Danish artist, including "Strandgade, Sunshine," featured in the Cleveland Museum of Art's upcoming exhibition "Impressionism to Modernism: The Keithley Collection."
